Meet Angie Wiley
Sports positively impacted every aspect of my life. The biggest impact has been through the principles I learned.
All athletes are taught the physical skills over and over again which is extremely important. However, the skills that will make the biggest impact on their life are not always taught. On average only 7% of high school athletes will go on to college on an athletic scholarship. That means out of the approximately 8 million high school athletes only about 600,000 will have the opportunity to play at the college level. So at the end of their career, which is more important? Physical skills or life skills? As you can see my passion is not just the sport, but what the sport teaches. Sports parallels life, making it an incredible opportunity to teach athletes the power of their mind.
How You Are Strong Came to Be
After playing 4 sports throughout high school and college basketball for 4 years, my athletic career ended at the age of 21. From college, I transitioned into the game of sales and sales management. Over 20 of those 30 years were spent in the medical device industry, where I had the opportunity to coach sales teams and individuals to reach their peak performance.
It was in 2013 when I started taking action on a calling that wouldn’t go away. That calling is to teach athletes the power of the mind, their mental game. I’ve seen first hand the powerful difference this has made in my life, my career and even raising my own children.
Does your athlete have what it takes to succeed – discipline, strong work ethic, coachability, team player, a strong mental game and a passion to win? It’s not whether you get knocked down, because you will get knocked down. It’s what you’ve learned when you get back up.
From this passion, I created You Are Strong. A game plan built for athletes to increase their performance and maximize their potential, their LIFE POTENTIAL.
